Congratulations Drs. Christy & Gordon Rainey

I recently coordinated a wedding for the Drs. Christy Shaffer & Gordon Rainey. Christy and Gordon were married September 15, 2007 at D'Monaco Resort in Ridgedale, Missouri. Christy had just finished school and taken her board exams and is now a dermatologist in El Paso, Texas. Gordon is currently an oncologist with the US Army. With the stress of school and exams, Christy put all of her energy into the details of her reception. Two ideas that I think we are going to be seeing alot more of; instead of a guest book, Christy chose to use different bottles of wine. Each bottle had a title, i.e., First Anniversary, For the Good Times, etc., then there was one, a bottle of bourbon, "For the Hard Times". There were pens available for the guests to sign the bottles. A very clever idea and one that I had not seen before.

When Christy and I discussed this next idea, never did I ever dream she would take it as far as she did. We had assigned seating for the reception. Each guest's name card was hanging from a rose tied ribbon from the side of a tent. The cards had a picture of each guest of the front and their name and table number on the back. Once you took your card to your table to find your seat, you found - once again - another picture of either you, or you and Christy & Gordon, or in some order. The photo's were all 4 x 6 size mounted on 5 x 7 card stock and was placed in a wedding bell table card holder. Once you took your photo out of the holder, Christy and Gordon had hand written personal thank you notes to each of the guest.

These are just a couple of awesome personal touches that were a part of this wedding and reception. Christy and Gordon were two of the neatest people to work with. The possibilities were endless with these two -

My favorite part of this wedding; the ceremony took place at the edge of the lake water - the groom and all the groomsmen arrived by boat. On a late September afternoon, and a quiet pontoon coming around the bend of the lake full a good lookin' guys - it was a site I will never forget!!

This was one wedding I will never forget!!
